Stocking up

As part of getting rid of my debt in 2012, I am always on the lookout for ways to reduce my spending, particularly on food, so when I come across a way to save money on a meal but make it as tasty as possible. In the past, I have found that this can be achieved by looking at the basics and trying to do as much with as little as possible.

So whilst reading some of my favourite blogs today (I do work but I had a well deserved say off today), I came across an article on making stock over at beingfrugal.net. Now I have in the past boiled down bones for stock, but never really thought about using apple cores and garlic skins for vegetable stock.

Give it a read, it’s well worth it and then let me know how you get on.

Happy saving,

As you may or may not know, The Debt Diaries is my New Years Resoluton this year is to record my journey on how I am getting rid of my debt in 2012, so I am finding ways to try and reduce my spending wherever possible. One of the areas I am looking at is coffee.

Hi, my name is Ken and I’m a coffee adict. My drink of choice is a triple shot vanilla latte, or vanilla americano, which with my three a day habit can work out as €13.55 a day.

So in order to combat that, I took to the web and found this receipe for vanilla syrup. It worked out brilliantly.

Check out my blog for full details.

Happy saving,
